This year, although we did not come in top like we hoped for in the season opener, Daisy Tan Carnival, we should not feel too down, especially Ace. Ace has a new team this year and it takes time for the team to gel. The Ace team did good in the first round (on 6th Jan 2008) but we struggled in the second round, as we found it hard to find our rhythm. We might have lost this time but I am sure we will come back strong later in the year. Like us, the day before we played our carnival final, Ana Ivanovic, one of the adidas' tennis star in the Australian Open, lost in her finals too. Coincidentally we were wearing similar coloured outfit. She was upset but she is still smiling. She is a young and rising star and she is positive that she will better her performance in the other grand slams of the year. So will we. Impossible is nothing. We cannot always win, but we can always make a come back!
Ana Ivanovic at the Australia Open 2008If you look at the bright side, the day is not without good news. Impossible is nothing and indeed it is. Our Youth team, although young and inexperienced, kicked the older Nike Zoom team out of the whole competition with a gripping over time play. Between these two teams that tied at full time, the first team that would reach 3 points ahead first will win, and that was exactly what they did. They were cool, calm, and collected, playing maturely, and making great decisions on court. As one of their coaches, I feel so very proud of them. Bravo Youth, bravo! Also, Sneakers might have set a record for ourselves. All the 4 teams sent by Sneakers made it to the second round of the Daisy Tan Carnival. This shows that our club's talents have depth. I also hope that we have relentless fighting spirit because we will be bouncing back again and again this year.
